When a vehicle crosses over the median and into oncoming lanes of traffic, there may be little to no time for nearby drivers to react and avoid a potential disaster. In addition to the possible danger of limiting response times, collisions that occur head-on also run a greater risk of having catastrophic ramifications. A recent head-on car accident in North Carolina has reportedly left several individuals with severe injuries and claimed the life of a 49-year-old woman.
According to law enforcement agents, the collision took place on a recent Saturday at around 3:40 p.m. They say that it took place when for reasons that remain under investigation, the driver of a northbound car suddenly cross through the median and into oncoming lanes of traffic. The car proceeded to hit an oncoming vehicle head-on soon thereafter.
Authorities advised that the driver of the car suffered fatal injuries in the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene. Several of the occupants of the second vehicle are said to have suffered severe injuries, each of whom was reportedly transported to a medical facility for treatment. Reports indicate that the investigation into the incident remains underway and that this is already the second fatal head-on crash on this road in 2021.
Regardless of how it happens, those who suffer serious harm after another driver crosses into the wrong lane and causes a head-on car accident may be left in search of guidance on their available options for legal recourse. Fortunately, a person does not have to face this process alone, and there are attorneys who can evaluate the incident and provide guidance on the next steps to take. By seeking guidance early on, a person may obtain much needed advice on what to expect from the process and how to prepare to seek the full amount of restitution to which he or she is entitled through the proper channels.
