Motorcycle rider killed during crash at intersection

Drivers who fail to adhere to stop signs before crossing through intersections may run the unfortunate risk of placing the safety of others nearby in jeopardy. While crashes involving such negligence can be dangerous under any situation, when motorcycles are involved, the outcome could prove far more disastrous in nature. A 23-year-old motorcycle rider was killed during a recent car accident after a driver ran through a stop sign in North Carolina.

Fatal intersection crash

Law enforcement agents reportedly responded to the scene of a fatal crash just before 10 a.m. on a recent Monday. According to initial investigations, the crash occurred when the driver of a car failed to stop at a stop sign before crossing into an intersection. This caused the car to travel into the path of a nearby motorcycle and the rider proceeded to crash into the side of the car.

Reports indicate that the man was thrown off his bike in the process. Authorities have advised that he died at the scene. They also indicate that the driver of the car is facing charges for failure to stop and death by motor vehicle. According to reports, authorities are also awaiting for results from toxicology tests to determine if impairment may have played a role in the crash.

Death of a loved one

Suffering the loss of someone close in a car accident can be harrowing enough as is. However, should this loss occur due to the reckless actions of another driver, surviving family members may find the outcome thereof far more difficult to accept. Following such a loss, individuals in North Carolina might wish to exercise their rights to seek accountability through the civil justice system, and they could find it helpful to retain the services of an attorney for assistance in preparing for the process.
