Multiple-vehicle crash claims life of 6-year-old child

When a major collision occurs, the initial impact thereof could prompt a chain reaction of events that may place the safety of others nearby at risk. Should the impact force one of the vehicles involved to cross into the opposite lanes of traffic, oncoming drivers might find it nearly impossible to steer out of harm’s way. A car accident involving similar circumstances has reportedly led to the death of a 6-year-old child in North Carolina.

Fatal incident

Law enforcement agents say they responded to reports of the crash at around 9:30 p.m. on a recent Saturday. They advised that the incident took place after two drivers who were traveling eastbound at excessive speeds suddenly collided with one another. The initial crash forced one of the cars to drift across the center line and into oncoming lanes, where it proceeded to hit a third vehicle.

According to reports, a child who was riding in the third vehicle was rushed to a medical facility for treatment soon thereafter but passed away after arrival. Authorities also advised that the driver of the car that entered oncoming lanes suffered critical injuries in the incident. Authorities also state that charges are pending following the crash, but no further information was provided pertaining to this topic.
